NS BlueScope Vietnam (Zincalume, COLORBOND, Lysaght)
Vietnamese operation of NS BlueScope, the BlueScope–Nippon Steel joint venture, producing ZINCALUME and COLORBOND coated steel and LYSAGHT building products.
NS BlueScope is a joint venture between Australia's BlueScope and Japan's Nippon Steel covering coated steel operations in South-East Asia, including Vietnam. In Vietnam it manufactures metallic-coated and pre-painted steel at its Phu My plant and markets them under brands including ZINCALUME steel, COLORBOND steel, COLORBOND steel for Panel, BlueScope Zacs and SUMO, together with LYSAGHT roofing, walling and steel framing profiles. Part of the Vietnamese output is exported. The company reports ResponsibleSteel site certification as well as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems.
Aluminium-zinc alloy coated steel is the most common substrate for the roof and wall sheeting of pre-engineered buildings, and pre-painted versions are used where colour, appearance or additional durability are required. In a PEB, these sheets are roll formed into trapezoidal through-fastened panels, standing seam roof panels, flashings, trims, gutters and the skins of sandwich panels. Selection depends on coating mass, base metal thickness and strength grade, paint system and the corrosivity of the site; coastal, industrial and high-humidity environments require heavier coatings or premium paint systems. Product warranties are generally conditional on the environment, roof slope, fasteners and maintenance, so they should be confirmed project by project.

BlueScope entered Vietnam in 1993 with a factory in Bien Hoa Industrial Park, Dong Nai. The metallic coating and painting plant is in Phu My, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, with lines for metallic-coated steel (about 150,000 t/year) and pre-painted steel (about 50,000 t/year).
