Scope of supply
Every PEB is held together by bolts and screws, and a missing box on site can stop erection. World Steel supplies fastener kits matched to the bolt lists on the erection drawings, with an allowance for site loss. The technical background is in structural bolts and cladding fasteners.
- High-strength structural bolts with nuts and hardened washers for frame end-plate and splice connections.
- Machine bolts for purlin, girt and bracing connections.
- Self-drilling and self-tapping screws with bonded sealing washers for cladding and trims.
- Stitching screws, rivets, and fasteners for accessories.
- Bracing rod fittings: turnbuckles, hillside washers and nuts.
Options and variants
| Market | High-strength bolt | Installation standard |
|---|---|---|
| United States | ASTM F3125 Grade A325 or A490, A563 nuts, F436 washers | RCSC Specification (2020) |
| Canada | ASTM F3125 Grade A325 / A490 per CSA S16 | CSA S16-19 clause on bolting |
| Australia / NZ | AS/NZS 1252.1 property class 8.8 | AS 4100 / AS/NZS 5131 (snug-tight or fully tensioned) |
| Europe | EN 14399 HR or HV assemblies (8.8 / 10.9); EN 15048 for non-preloaded | EN 1090-2 tightening methods |
Bolts are normally hot-dip galvanized for exported buildings; A490 / 10.9 bolts are not hot-dip galvanized because of hydrogen embrittlement risk and are supplied plain or with an approved coating. Cladding screws are specified by corrosion class (for example AS 3566.2 Class 3 or 4) and by drill point capacity; stainless or bi-metal screws are used on aluminium or in severe environments. Brands include SFS, EJOT and Hilti.
Materials, documentation and packing
Each lot is supplied with the manufacturer's inspection certificate (EN 10204 3.1 or equivalent), including proof load, hardness and coating results. Fasteners are packed in sealed, labelled boxes by grade, diameter and length, cross-referenced to the bolt list for each connection, and loaded in the first container with the frames. A typical spare allowance of a few percent is included for small fasteners. See bolted end-plate connections for installation methods.
Compliance by market
| Market | Design code | Fabrication / welding | Materials | Certification notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | AISC 360-22, RCSC 2020 bolting, AISI S100 for screws | RCSC installation and inspection | ASTM F3125, A563, F436; screws with ICC-ES evaluation where required | WSC holds IAS AC472 accreditation for metal building systems; welding qualified to AWS D1.1 (structural) and AWS D1.3 (sheet steel). AISC Certification is not held – confirm acceptance if specified. |
| Canada | CSA S16-19, CSA S136-16 | CSA W59 for welded parts | ASTM F3125 per CSA S16 | Designed to CSA S16 / CSA S136 by WSC or the engineer of record. CSA W47.1 (CWB) company certification is a market requirement, arranged per project. |
| Australia / New Zealand | AS 4100:2020 connections and bolting, AS/NZS 4600 | AS/NZS 5131 CC3 bolting requirements | AS/NZS 1252.1, AS 1110/1111, AS 3566 screws | WSC is certified to AS/NZS 5131 Construction Category CC3; welding to AS/NZS 1554.1. For New Zealand, SFC certification is not held – confirm acceptance per project. |
| Europe | EN 1993-1-8, EN 1993-1-3 | EN 1090-2 bolting and tightening | EN 14399 / EN 15048, ETA-assessed screws | WSC is certified to EN 1090-2 Execution Class EXC3 and ISO 3834-2. CE marking via EN 1090-1 factory production control to be confirmed per project. |
Cladding sundries kit
Alongside structural bolts, every building needs a sundries kit to complete the envelope. Missing sundries are a common reason for idle crews, so they are listed item by item on the packing list:
| Item | Typical specification | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Self-drilling screws | No. 12–14, corrosion Class 3 or 4, EPDM-bonded washer; stainless or bi-metal for aluminium | Sheet to purlins and girts |
| Stitch screws | Short screws with sealing washer, colour-matched heads | Side laps and trims |
| Blind rivets | Sealed aluminium or stainless, about 4.0–4.8 mm | Gutters, flashings, light trims |
| Foam closures | Profiled polyethylene or EPDM foam, inside and outside | Seal ribs at eave, ridge, base and openings |
| Butyl mastic tape | Non-skinning tape, sized to the lap | Side and end laps, trim laps |
| Sealant | Neutral-cure silicone or polyurethane, coating compatible | Exposed joints, penetrations |
| Pipe flashings | EPDM or silicone boots with aluminium base | Small round roof penetrations |
See sundries: sealants, closures, rivets and tapes and structural bolts and cladding fasteners.
How to request a quotation
A quotation can be prepared quickly when the enquiry states the project location and the code to be used. Please send:
- Bolt lists or connection drawings, or the building to be supplied.
- Bolt standard, grade and finish required.
- Cladding material and thickness, and site corrosivity.
- Spare allowance and packing preferences.
Fastener kits are usually supplied within a PEB kit or with the primary framing package, and can be ordered separately under the accessories scope through the export supply team.

Perguntas frequentes
Are PEB frame bolts pretensioned?
It depends on the code and the connection; many end-plate connections are pretensioned, while purlin and girt bolts are snug-tight.
Why are A490 or 10.9 bolts not galvanized?
Hot-dip galvanizing increases the risk of hydrogen embrittlement in very high-strength bolts, so codes restrict it.
Which cladding screws should be used near the coast?
Screws with a higher corrosion class or stainless / bi-metal screws, matched to the cladding coating.
