ISOVER (Saint-Gobain)
Glass wool and mineral wool insulation brand of the French Saint-Gobain group, marketed in Vietnam by Saint-Gobain Vietnam.
ISOVER is the insulation brand of Saint-Gobain, the French building materials group. Saint-Gobain entered Vietnam in 2007 with the acquisition of a plasterboard business, and Saint-Gobain Vietnam now markets several brands locally, including ISOVER glass wool insulation alongside gypsum, mortar and fibre-cement products.
Glass wool is one of the most common insulation materials for metal roofs and walls of pre-engineered buildings. It is supplied as rolls or blankets, often laminated with a facing such as reinforced aluminium foil or a white vinyl, which acts as a vapour retarder and gives a finished appearance from inside. In a typical through-fastened roof, the blanket is draped over the purlins and compressed under the roof sheet, or supported on a mesh between purlins. Insulation reduces solar heat gain and heating loads and helps control condensation on the underside of the roof. The facing must be on the warm side, and joints must be sealed or taped to keep moisture out. Glass wool also improves rain-noise and acoustic performance. Thickness and density are chosen for the required thermal resistance and the reaction-to-fire classification.
