SFS Group traces its history to 1928 and is headquartered in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. The group operates sales and production locations in many countries across Europe, Asia and North America.
Self-drilling screws are the main fasteners of a pre-engineered building envelope. They fix roof and wall sheeting, trims, flashings and accessories to cold-formed purlins and girts, and they connect sheet-to-sheet side laps. The screw must drill through the total steel thickness before the thread engages, so the drill point length is chosen to suit the purlin or girt thickness. Sealing washers with EPDM seals keep through-fastened roofs watertight, and the screw material and coating must be compatible with the cladding and suitable for the corrosivity of the site; stainless or bi-metal screws are used in aggressive environments. Pull-out and pull-over capacities of the fastener govern the fixing pattern needed to resist wind uplift, especially in edge and corner zones.
