ROCKWOOL
Danish stone wool insulation group, producing non-combustible insulation for roofs, walls and fire protection, with a Vietnam office.
ROCKWOOL, headquartered in Denmark, traces its origins to 1909 and has produced stone wool since 1937. The group is a major producer of stone wool insulation and operates in more than 30 countries. In Asia it has manufacturing and sales operations in several countries, and it serves the Vietnamese market through a local office.
Stone wool is made by melting basalt and other rock and spinning it into fibres. It is non-combustible and retains its structure at high temperatures, which makes it suitable where fire performance matters – fire walls, firebreaks in roofs, cores of fire-rated sandwich panels and insulation near hot processes. In pre-engineered buildings, stone wool is used as roof and wall insulation under metal sheeting, as the core of mineral wool sandwich panels and in acoustic applications such as sports halls and factories with noisy equipment. Density is generally higher than glass wool, so support and fixing details must account for its weight. Facings and vapour retarders are used to control condensation in the same way as for other fibrous insulation.
