Hoa Phat Group

Hoa Phat Group began trading construction machinery in 1992 and has since developed into one of Vietnam's largest industrial groups, with steel as its core business. Its integrated steel complexes in Hai Duong and at Dung Quat in Quang Ngai produce pig iron, steel billets, construction steel and hot-rolled coil (HRC). The group also manufactures steel pipe and zinc-coated and pre-painted sheet. Hoa Phat reports that its HRC meets SS400 grade requirements of JIS G 3101 and SAE J403.

For pre-engineered steel buildings, hot-rolled coil is the starting material for much of the steel in a building. Coil is levelled and cut to length to make plate for the webs and flanges of tapered built-up frames, connection plates and stiffeners, and it is pickled, cold-rolled and metallic-coated further down the supply chain to become feedstock for cold-formed purlins, girts and roof sheeting. Steel pipe is used for interior columns of multi-span frames, handrails and bracing struts. As with any material, the grade, thickness tolerance, chemical composition and mill test certificate must match the project specification and design code – for example JIS, ASTM, EN or AS/NZS grades – and the fabricator verifies each heat against the certificate for traceability.

Headquartered in Hung Yen province. Steel is produced at the Hoa Phat Hai Duong and Hoa Phat Dung Quat (Quang Ngai) integrated steel complexes; the first hot-rolled coil from Dung Quat was produced in May 2020. Listed on the Vietnamese stock market since 2007.
