World Steel designs and fabricates structural steel and steel buildings for Canadian projects to the National Building Code, CSA S16 and CSA W59.
Canadian steel structures are designed to CSA S16 (and CSA S136 for cold-formed members) under the National Building Code of Canada as adopted by each province. Welding follows CSA W59, and companies that weld structural steel must be certified to CSA W47.1 by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB).
CSA W47.1 certification is therefore a precondition for supplying welded structural steel to Canadian projects. World Steel addresses this requirement before quoting welded scopes – please contact us to confirm the current status for your project.
Design must account for heavy snow loads, low service temperatures (notch-tough steel such as CSA G40.21 350WT) and seismic demand in British Columbia and Quebec. Vietnam and Canada trade under the CPTPP; Canadian trade remedies and steel import measures are reviewed with each quotation.
