International Paint (AkzoNobel)
Marine and protective coatings brand of AkzoNobel, founded in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1881, used for corrosion and fire protection of steel.
International Paint was founded in 1881 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, by the Holzapfel brothers and Charles Petrie. It is now the leading brand of AkzoNobel's marine and protective coatings business. AkzoNobel, headquartered in the Netherlands, has been active in Vietnam since 1992 and operates several manufacturing sites in the country, while marine and protective coatings are supplied to Vietnamese fabricators and shipyards.
Protective coatings under the International brand cover the main generic types used on structural steel: zinc-rich primers, epoxy primers and intermediates, polyurethane finishes, and intumescent fire protection coatings. In PEB and structural steel work, the coating system is chosen from the site corrosivity category and the required durability according to ISO 12944, and from the fire-resistance period required by the building code. The specification defines surface preparation (usually Sa 2½ to ISO 8501-1 for blast-cleaned steel), each coat's generic type and nominal dry film thickness, and the treatment of bolted connections and site welds. Touch-up of transport and erection damage on site uses compatible products from the same system.
PEB および鋼構造に使用される製品
- Zinc-rich primers – sacrificial corrosion protection on blast-cleaned steel
- Epoxy primers and intermediates – barrier protection for C3 to C5 environments
- Polyurethane finishes – colour and gloss retention for exposed steelwork
- Intumescent coatings – fire protection of structural steel
