Steel from Vietnam – and from the world

Every steel structure starts with its raw material. Grade, thickness, toughness and origin decide whether a building meets its code, passes inspection and clears customs in the destination country – so we treat steel sourcing as part of the engineering, not as purchasing alone.

Our factory sits in one of the fastest-growing steel economies in the world. Domestic mills supply hot-rolled coil, coated coil, pipes and sections at short lead times; for heavy plates, special grades or a specified origin we buy from approved mills in India, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Europe and Egypt. Each order is matched to the project specification – standard, grade, origin and certificates – before it is placed.

Vietnam · Top 10 steel producer

A steel economy that has come of age

Vietnam produced 24.7 million tonnes of crude steel in 2025, ranking 11th in the world and first in Southeast Asia according to worldsteel – and in 2026 it entered the global top 10 steel producers for the first time.

Integrated blast-furnace and electric-arc mills supply long products, hot-rolled coil, cold-rolled and coated coil and pipes, and new hot-rolled coil capacity started commercial production in 2025. For our customers that means standard grades close to our factory, shorter lead times and less exposure to long-haul supply risk.

Multi-origin supply

Ten more origins – one quality standard

Vietnam also imports around 16 million tonnes of steel a year, mainly from China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Taiwan – a mature trade that gives us access to heavy plates, wide sections and special grades not rolled locally.

We buy from mills in India, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the European Union and Egypt. Every mill is evaluated before it is used, and every delivery is accepted on the same basis: the grade, standard and certificate your specification requires.

Origin compliance

Meeting your project's origin requirements

Many projects specify where steel may – or may not – come from: approved-mill lists, domestic-content rules, preferential tariffs under free trade agreements, or trade-remedy duties on certain origins. We agree the permitted origins with you before ordering and keep them on the purchase order.

The mill certificate states the producing mill and the place of melting; certificates of origin, mill origin statements and the full traceability record are supplied with the project documents, so your customs broker and inspector have what they need.

Quality & traceability

Traceable from the mill heat to the piece on site

Every plate, coil and section arrives with an EN 10204 type 3.1 inspection certificate – chemistry, tensile and impact results for its heat. Our receiving inspection checks the certificate against the order and the standard, and checks size, thickness and surface before material enters the stock.

Heat numbers are transferred to every cut piece and linked to the piece marks on the shop drawings – the traceability required for fabrication under EN 1090-2 and AS/NZS 5131. Type 3.2 certificates, third-party testing and ultrasonic testing of plates are available on request.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Vietnam really one of the world's top 10 steel producers?

Yes. According to worldsteel, Vietnam produced 24.7 million tonnes of crude steel in 2025, ranking 11th in the world and first in Southeast Asia, and it entered the top 10 for the first time on 2026 production data.

Can you use steel only from origins our project allows?

Yes. Permitted and excluded origins are agreed before ordering and written on the purchase order; the mill certificate shows the producing mill, and certificates of origin or mill origin statements are supplied with the documents.

Which material standards can you supply?

ASTM and CSA for North America, AS/NZS for Australia and New Zealand, EN for Europe, and JIS, KS and GB grades for Asian projects – from mild steel to 460 MPa high-strength grades.

Do you provide mill certificates?

Every heat is covered by an EN 10204 type 3.1 certificate from the producing mill. Type 3.2 certificates and third-party tests can be arranged on request.

Can you supply impact-tested or Z-quality plates?

Yes – impact-tested grades such as S355J2/K2, AS/NZS 3678 L0/L15 options and through-thickness Z15–Z35 plates to EN 10164 are sourced where the design requires them.

Can one grade be substituted for another?

Only with the written approval of the engineer of record. Grades with similar yield strength still differ in chemistry, toughness and tolerances, so we never substitute without approval.
