Product line · WS modular handrail
Bolt-together steel guardrails and handrails for platforms, walkways, stairs and roofs – standard stanchions, rails and fabricated fittings, made and hot-dip galvanized in the World Steel plant. Supplied with your structural steel package or ordered on its own.

Every platform, walkway, stair and roof we fabricate needs edge protection – and on most projects the handrail is where site time, hot work and galvanizing repairs pile up. WS modular handrail solves that with a standard kit: stanchions, rails and fittings that bolt together with spanners and hex keys, designed to the heights and loads of the US, Australian and European codes.
All components are fabricated in the same certified plant as our structural steel – cut, welded on jigs, galvanized as single pieces and marked by code – so the handrail arrives with the same quality records as the frame it protects. It can be detailed in the same Tekla model and shipped with your structural steel, or ordered on its own for existing plants and buildings.

Each run is assembled from the same standard components – that is what makes the system fast, adjustable and easy to extend.
WS-MH-S
Top-mounted, side-mounted, socket, raked and free-standing posts with fittings factory-set at the code heights.
WS-MH-C
Galvanized 42.4 mm rails joined by splices, corners, tees and adjustable knuckles – locked with set screws.
WS-MH-G · T
Self-closing gates at ladders and hatches, toe boards and brackets along every deck edge.
WS-MH-F
Anchor kits for concrete, bolt sets for steel and beam clamps that need no drilling of existing members.
Advantages
Bolt-together assembly – no hot-work permits, no fire watch, no galvanizing repair on site.
Pre-cut rails and factory-set fittings: a crew installs a run with hand tools.
Fittings take up corners, slopes and site tolerances that welded rails cannot.
Every part is galvanized as a single piece – inside and out, with no welded joints left bare.
Add bays, gates or removable sections later with the same standard parts.
Heights, rails and toe boards set for OSHA, AS 1657 or EN ISO 14122-3.
Codes & compliance
Fitting heights, rails and toe boards are set for the code of the destination. Key requirements:
Summary for orientation only – the project specification, the adopted code edition and the authority having jurisdiction govern.
Quality documents
The same records as the structural steel it protects.
for approval
Runs, levels, openings and the component schedule by code.
EN 10204 3.1
Tube, bar and plate traced to the components.
coating thickness
Certificate and measured zinc thickness.
by area and code
Every bag and bundle marked for site.
Supply options
In the structural steel package. Handrail runs are modelled with the platforms, stairs and mezzanines they protect; stanchion holes and sockets are made in the shop, components are packed with the steel of the same area and arrive in the same containers – one supplier, one programme, one quality dossier.
Ordered separately. For existing plants, roofs and buildings, or to complete steel supplied by others, WS modular handrail is quoted from a layout drawing or site measurements and shipped as a complete kit – or as individual stanchions, fittings and accessories for extensions and spares.
Either way, every component is made by World Steel – nothing is bought in and relabelled.

Quality & durability
Components are fabricated under the same ISO 3834-2, AS/NZS 5131 CC3 and EN 1090 EXC3 quality systems as our structural steel: traceable material, qualified welding procedures, jig-built stanchions with repeatable fitting heights, and dimensional inspection before galvanizing.
Hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123, AS/NZS 4680 or EN ISO 1461 coats every part inside and out; because the system is bolted, no zinc is burnt off by site welding. For coastal and chemical environments a duplex safety-yellow topcoat extends life and visibility; the coating system is chosen for the corrosivity category of the site.
Fittings are sized so that the joint is never the weak point under the barrier loads of OSHA, AS/NZS 1170.1 or EN 1991-1-1, and stanchion spacing is checked for each project.

A handrail or guardrail assembled from standard stanchions, rails and fittings that bolt together, instead of being welded on site. WS modular handrail is fabricated and galvanized as single components and assembled with hand tools.
Yes – most WS modular handrail ships in the same package as the platforms, stairs and mezzanines it protects, detailed in the same model. It can also be ordered on its own for existing structures.
Fitting heights, rails and toe boards are set for OSHA 1910.29 in the US, AS 1657 in Australia and EN ISO 14122-3 in Europe; stanchion spacing is checked for the barrier loads of the project.
No. Stanchions, rails, fittings, gates, toe boards and brackets are fabricated in the World Steel plant; anchors are supplied to suit the fixing surface.
Yes. Every component has a WS code, so extensions, gates, removable bays and spares can be ordered individually.
Hot-dip galvanizing as standard; a duplex safety-yellow topcoat for coastal, chemical or high-visibility areas; powder coat over galvanizing for architectural areas.
Send the layout or model with the code and finish – we return a component schedule and a delivered price, with your structural steel or as a separate kit.
