Primary Framing – Columns, Rafters & Bracing

H-section and round columns, rafters or trusses, and the roof, purlin and gable bracing that stabilise the building.

The primary frame carries all loads to the foundations. Columns are most commonly welded H-sections, with round columns for special buildings. Rafters – built-up beams or trusses – typically span 30–50 m in factory buildings. Roof bracing, purlin bracing and gable bracing keep the structure stable during erection and in service.
