FCA
Free Carrier
The seller delivers export-cleared goods to the carrier nominated by the buyer at a named place – our factory or a terminal.
How World Steel delivers FCA
Offered as standard: FCA World Steel factory (loaded into your container or onto your truck) or FCA Ho Chi Minh City container terminal / ICD. Export cleared by World Steel. On request we ask your carrier to issue an on-board bill of lading for letter-of-credit payment, as Incoterms® 2020 allows.
- Delivery
- At the WS factory: loaded on the buyer's truck or container. At another place (terminal, ICD): on the arriving vehicle, ready for unloading.
- Risk passes
- When the goods are handed to the buyer's carrier at the named place.
- Costs
- The seller pays to the named place including export clearance; the buyer pays main carriage onwards.
- Best for
- Containerised shipments where the buyer controls the freight – the ICC-preferred alternative to FOB for containers.
- Watch out
- Name the place precisely: who loads depends on whether it is the seller's premises or another place.
- New in 2020
- 2020: the parties may agree that the buyer's carrier issues an on-board bill of lading to the seller.
Always state the rule, a precise named place and the version, e.g. “FCA Ho Chi Minh City, Incoterms® 2020”.
