Why cages
Most site problems with steel erection start at the foundation: anchor bolts out of position, rotated or set at the wrong projection. A cage holds the whole bolt group – with a template at the top and a ring plate at the bottom – so it is placed, levelled and tied to the reinforcement as one piece.
What we supply
- Anchor bolts to F1554, AS 1111 or ISO 898-1
- Top template plate drilled from the column base plate drawing
- Bottom ring or spacer plate, tack-welded where permitted
- Plastic or steel sleeves for ± adjustment
- Levelling nuts, plate washers, thread protection
- Tag with foundation mark and grid
Setting
- Check the template against grid lines and level before the pour
- Tie the cage to the reinforcement – not to the formwork
- Protect threads; remove templates after the concrete has set
- Survey bolt positions before steel erection
