What the service covers
World Steel fabricates pre-engineered buildings and structural steel at its plant in Hai Son Industrial Park, Tay Ninh, with a capacity of about 40,000 tonnes per year. Fabrication can be bought with WSC's own design or to drawings supplied by the client, under the manufacturing solution. The process follows the PEB fabrication process:
- Material receipt and verification against mill certificates, with heat numbers recorded for traceability.
- CNC plasma and oxy-fuel cutting of flanges, tapered webs and plates (see plate cutting and web tapering).
- Assembly and automatic submerged arc welding of built-up members; FCAW/GMAW for fittings.
- CNC drilling and punching of end plates and connection plates.
- Cold roll forming of purlins, girts and cladding.
- Abrasive blasting and painting, or hot-dip galvanizing by a qualified galvanizer.
- Final inspection, marking, packing and loading.
Inputs needed from the client
- Approved design drawings or WSC's approval drawings signed off.
- Material specification and any mill restrictions or country-of-melt requirements.
- Paint or galvanizing specification and colour.
- Inspection and test plan requirements, third-party inspection and hold points.
- Delivery terms and required shipment sequence.
Deliverables
- Fabricated, inspected and marked components, packed for export.
- Material test certificates traceable to piece marks.
- Welding procedure specifications and welder qualifications for the applicable code.
- Dimensional, visual weld and NDT reports; coating thickness reports.
- Final quality dossier (manufacturing data report) with packing lists.
Quality and compliance
The plant holds ISO 3834-2 for fusion welding quality, EN 1090-2 Execution Class EXC3, AS/NZS 5131 Construction Category CC3, IAS AC472 accreditation for metal building systems and BC1 (Singapore). Welding is qualified to AWS D1.1 and D1.3 for North America, AS/NZS 1554.1 for Australia and New Zealand, and EN ISO 15614-1 procedures under EN 1090-2 for Europe. Requirements that WSC does not hold, such as CSA W47.1 for Canada or AISC Certification in the United States, are discussed at enquiry and arranged per project. See quality control and inspection.
| Market | Held by WSC | Arranged / confirmed per project |
|---|---|---|
| United States | IAS AC472; AWS D1.1/D1.3 procedures | AISC Certification if specified |
| Canada | Design to CSA S16/S136 | CSA W47.1 (CWB) |
| Australia / NZ | AS/NZS 5131 CC3 | SFC (NZ) if specified |
| Europe | EN 1090-2 EXC3, ISO 3834-2 | CE marking via EN 1090-1 FPC |

Scope boundaries
Fabrication services cover the steel and cladding manufactured or procured by World Steel. Items such as doors, sandwich panels, cranes and skylights are bought from qualified manufacturers and inspected on receipt; their own product approvals remain the manufacturer's responsibility. Hot-dip galvanizing is subcontracted to a galvanizer and checked for coating thickness on return. Where the client requires a specific mill, a domestic-content rule or a coating brand, this is fixed in the purchase order so that procurement and the inspection and test plan reflect it from the start. Shop drawing approval by the client or engineer is a hold point: fabrication of a lot does not start until its drawings are released.
| Option | Made in-house | Bought out and consolidated |
|---|---|---|
| Primary steel finish | Blast to Sa 2½ and paint to the specified ISO 12944 system | Hot-dip galvanizing by a qualified galvanizer |
| Secondary members | Roll-formed from galvanized or Zn-Al-Mg coil | Hot-dip galvanized after fabrication where specified |
| Cladding and trims | Roll-formed sheets, folded trims, gutters | Sandwich panels, aluminium sheet, translucent sheets |
| Accessories | Framed openings, canopies, fascias, crane runway beams, mezzanine steel | Doors, windows, ventilators, louvers, insulation, cranes |
| Sundries | Packed and labelled with the kit | Screws, rivets, sealants, closures from approved suppliers |
Bought-out items are checked against the approved submittals on receipt and listed in the packing list and quality dossier. See surface preparation and painting.
Typical schedule
Typically, fabrication of a single-storey PEB takes about 4–8 weeks after approval of drawings and arrival of material, depending on tonnage, finish and plant loading. Anchor bolts can be shipped within about 1–2 weeks of order so that foundations can start early. Galvanizing and special paint systems add time. These ranges are indicative and are confirmed in each quotation.
Standards by region
| Region | Code | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| International | ISO 3834-2 | Comprehensive quality requirements for fusion welding |
| AWS D1.1 / D1.3 | Structural welding code – steel / sheet steel | |
| CSA W47.1 | Certification of companies for fusion welding of steel (market requirement) | |
| AS/NZS 5131 | Fabrication and erection of structural steelwork | |
| EN 1090-2 | Technical requirements for steel structures |
Frequently asked questions
Can WSC fabricate to another engineer's drawings?
Yes. Build-to-print fabrication is offered, with shop drawings prepared by WSC from the client's design drawings.
Can third-party inspectors visit the plant?
Yes. Client or third-party inspection at agreed hold points is common for export projects.
Is WSC CWB certified for Canada?
No. CSA W47.1 certification is a Canadian market requirement that is arranged per project; WSC designs to CSA S16 and S136.
