Paints & protective coatings
Nippon Paint
Japanese paint manufacturer founded in Tokyo in 1881, operating several factories in Vietnam and supplying decorative and heavy-duty coatings.
Nippon Paint was established in Tokyo in 1881. Its Vietnamese subsidiary was founded in 1994 and operates factories in the south and north of the country. The Vietnamese product portfolio includes decorative interior and exterior paints, civil paints, heavy-duty coatings, waterproofing and dry-mix products, serving architectural, industrial and automotive customers.
Heavy-duty coatings are the range applicable to steel structures. For pre-engineered building frames, a shop primer is applied after blast cleaning and, depending on exposure, followed by intermediate and finish coats to achieve the durability required under ISO 12944. Interior frames in dry, conditioned buildings commonly need only a primer, while open structures, canopies and coastal or industrial sites call for multi-coat epoxy and polyurethane systems. Waterproofing products may be used at roof penetrations, gutters and slab interfaces. The coating specification should state generic type, number of coats, dry film thickness, surface preparation grade and the procedure for repairing damage after erection.
Products used in PEB and steel structures
- Heavy-duty coatings – primers, intermediates and finishes for structural steel
- Exterior architectural paints – painted walls and finishes on PEB projects
- Waterproofing solutions – roof penetrations, gutters and wet areas
