Overview
About Automatic fire curtains
Fire curtains are active barriers: the fabric is stored in a head box and released by the fire-alarm signal, closing by gravity even on power loss.
They are tested to EN 1634-1 and classified E or EW under EN 13501-2, designed to BS 8524-1 / -2 in the UK and UL 10D in North America; they are integrity barriers and do not insulate like a fire wall.
Regular testing and maintenance are part of the approval – an active system must be shown to work.
Key benefits
- Invisible until deployed
- Closes wide openings without columns
- Gravity fail-safe operation
- Interfaces with the fire alarm

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is a fire curtain equal to a fire wall?
No – most fire curtains provide integrity (E/EW) only. Whether a curtain is acceptable is decided by the fire engineer and the authority.
Is this product certified?
Certification belongs to a specific manufacturer’s product or tested system. We supply the test report, classification or listing accepted in your market for the product selected – it is confirmed per project, never assumed.
