Overview
About Fire-rated roller shutters
Fire shutters are tested to EN 1634-1 and classified under EN 13501-2 (usually E or EW; EI needs insulated curtains), to UL 10B / NFPA 80 in North America and to AS 1530.4 with AS 1905.2 in Australia.
Release is by fire-alarm signal, fusible link or both, with gravity or motorised fail-safe closing; the opening must be kept clear of obstructions.
The shutter, guides and head box are fixed to the steel framing of the opening, which must itself be fire-protected for the rating.

Does a fire shutter stop heat?
Most shutters are integrity-rated (E or EW); insulated (EI) shutters exist but are thicker – the code decides which class is needed.

Certification belongs to a specific manufacturer’s product or tested system. We supply the test report, classification or listing accepted in your market for the product selected – it is confirmed per project, never assumed.
