Overview
About Combined fire and smoke curtains
Combined curtains are tested both as fire barriers (EN 1634-1, classified E or EW with smoke-leakage performance) and as smoke barriers where required (EN 12101-1).
They are chosen where an opening must hold back smoke early in a fire and flames later – for example lift lobbies and corridor openings.
As with all active barriers, commissioning, periodic testing and maintenance are part of compliance.
Key benefits
- Fire and smoke in one barrier
- Concealed until deployed
- Saves space compared with doors
- Alarm-activated, gravity fail-safe
