Overview
About Stone wool sandwich wall panels
Stone wool cores do not add fuel to a fire; the reaction-to-fire class of the whole panel (for example A2-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1) depends on the facings, adhesive and coating.
Fire resistance (EI) is a property of the tested wall system – panel thickness, core density, joints, fixings and supporting steel – classified under EN 13501-2 from EN 1364-1 tests, or AS 1530.4 / ASTM E119 elsewhere.
Insurer approvals such as FM 4880/4881 or LPS 1181 are panel-specific and are checked when the insurer requires them.
Key benefits
- Non-combustible core

How we use Stone wool sandwich wall panels in steel buildings
World Steel supplies wall panels with the steel frame: girt spacing, panel spans, flashings and fixings are detailed in the same model so the tested system is reproduced on site.
Product-specific test reports, classification reports and certificates are supplied for the product selected for each project – this page describes the product type, not a certified product.
- 01Specified with the structure – thickness, density and facing matched to the roof, wall and fire design.
- 02Quantities taken from the same 3D model as the steel, purlins and cladding.
- 03Packed and shipped with the steel package – one delivery schedule to site.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does a stone wool core make the wall fire-rated?
Not on its own. A non-combustible core is a material property; a fire-resistance rating comes from a tested wall system with its thickness, joints and fixings.
Is this product certified?
Certification belongs to a specific manufacturer’s product or tested system. We supply the test report, classification or listing accepted in your market for the product selected – it is confirmed per project, never assumed.
